As a kid, you hear a lot of things about acne. Everybody has their opinion on what causes it or how to stop it. My nana insisted that it came from a teenager having premarital sex. My papa said she was crazy. Everybody knew that acne was the result of eating too many sweets. My mamma didn’t care who was right or wrong as long as I didn’t make her a grandma before I was married and all of the Cannoli was eaten.

My family joked a lot about acne at my expense, but the reality is that most people really don’t understand what acne is and where it comes from. Everyone knows the myths about acne, but few know the truth.

Acne is the result of natural oil that your body produces becoming clogged in your pores. Once the pores or hair follicles are clogged, bacteria starts building up and mixes with the oil. This leads to the bumps, zits, pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads that we commonly refer to as acne.

Doctors know that this is the process by which acne takes place. From this information, they have developed several treatment options to help clear up acne over a period of time. However, no one knows for sure how to prevent acne or completely stop it from occurring in the first place. Because of this, there are countless myths and old wives tales floating around.

I have heard it all and you probably have to. Acne comes from eating too much chocolate. If you have a huge zit, you obviously haven’t been drinking enough water. Pimples are simply a matter of cleanliness. If you wash your face more, then you won’t have bumps. Of course, my favorite myth is the one that says since acne occurs most often during the teenage years. It is a sign that teenagers are having premarital sex.

Hysterical right? I know. The truth is that these are myths and not scientific facts. Yes, if you change your diet, your acne may subside for a while. Sure, if you reduce your stress level and drink more water, you may see an improvement in the condition of your skin. However, what works for one may not work for another.

That is why it is so important to talk with your dermatologist about what treatment options and preventive steps can be taken based off of your unique skin composition. By understanding what acne is and what habits trigger acne in your skin, you can put an end to the myths and start regaining control over your appearance and self esteem.

Acne is a skin condition that has plagued teenagers and adults for centuries, and there are a lot of myths about what causes acne and how to cure it. The fact is we still don’t know exactly why some people suffer from acne and others don’t.
Basically, acne starts and pimples form because sebum gets blocked in the pores of your skin and bacteria begins to grow. Science doesn’t yet have a definite answer when it comes to acne causes, but several myths relate to eating junk food, stress, cosmetics, and exercise. Each of these things may be an acne cause, but not all doctors agree. The general consensus is that the strongest cause of acne is genetic, although these other factors may contribute to acne as well.
Adult Acne and Teenage Acne
Acne in teenagers is caused by the changes in hormone levels that occur as teens enter puberty. Not all adolescents experience teenage acne as they enter puberty, but many do. Most non-prescription acne products use ad campaigns that target teens, because teenage acne tends to have a great psychological impact on adolescents.
Adult acne is somewhat different, because it isn’t typically caused by hormonal changes. However, some women suffer from acne due to higher than normal levels of testosterone. Usually, adult acne is related to stress and diet, although these are not conclusive causes.
Natural and Alternative Acne Solutions
Consumers are always clamoring for natural solutions to medical problems, and acne natural treatments are no exception. There have been many suggested natural remedies used for acne treatment over the years, but recently some alternative methods have proved somewhat successful.
Some recent studies, for instance, have shown that acupuncture may help treat acne. Acupuncturists usually try to treat the root problems in the body, and acne happens to be a symptom caused by other factors such as hormonal imbalances. This why your acupuncturist may suggest a change in diet or some form of stress relief.
Tea tree oil has acquired a good reputation as a natural acne treatment too. As an acne solution, it helps kill the bacteria and cut down the amount of inflammation and redness on the skin. In some cases using tea tree oil can help traditional acne products penetrate deeper as well.
Home Acne Products
The most common home acne product available is benzoyl peroxide. This is the active ingredient in many acne treatments including Clearasil, ABY, AcneControl, and Proactiv Solution. It works by killing the bacteria that causes acne, and it also has a mild peeling effect which can reduce breakout and inflammation. Some sources say the bacteria can actually build up a resistance to benzoyl peroxide, making it less effective the longer you use it. Also, beware that a small percentage of people are allergic to benzoyl peroxide, and if you experience any excessive skin irritation when using it, you should try a different acne product.
Salicylic Acid is another common acne treatment that is the active ingredient in many home acne products. It works by unclogging the pores of your skin and works best when used in conjunction with an antibacterial agent like benzoyl peroxide. Some products such as Clearasil 3-in1, Neutrogena, and Proactiv Solution Deep Cleansing Wash use salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide together.
A trip through the Health and Beauty section of most grocers will supply you with plenty of options for acne products that contain these ingredients. The best acne solution may be to develop a regimen that cleans your skin, unclogs your pores, and kills acne causing bacteria. Choose your acne products based on this daily regimen.

There are several ways on how to cure back acne. Bacne – a short term for back acne is just like any ordinary forms of acne. It can appear as pimples, blackheads, pustules or in severe cases it would look like an acne cyst. This commonly appears during puberty when the sebaceous gland starts to function aggressively. Male, female, teenagers or adult, back acne does not have a particular range of age nor gender and practically can affect anybody. Below are some ways to treat back acne.

1. Wear cool clothes and put some powder at your back to prevent perspiration. This is a vital way on how to cure back acne. Change clothes if you have perspired too much on it to prevent further back acne build up.

2. After doing a vigorous activity, you would probably give off too much sweat. Take a shower immediately or if not possible, wipe your perspiration using towels with soft fabric such as cotton.

3. Pat dry you skin after taking a shower. Do not rub the towel. It might irritate your skin and cause inflammation on your back acne.

4. If your back acne is not yet severe, you may still use anti-bacterial cleansers that are designed for facial acne. Nowadays, there are also anti-acne soaps that can be used not just for the face but for body as well. Avoid using regular soap. These soaps may not meet the demands that your sensitive skin needs.

5. Avoid carrying back packs until your back acne clears up. This would prevent your back from heating up which results to more perspiration and breeding ground for bacteria that causes back acne.

6. One of the best ways on how to cure back acne properly is to use gels or creams containing at least 10 percent benzoyl peroxide. They can be bought at drugstores even without any prescriptions from a dermatologist (skin doctor).

7. Studies show that benzoyl peroxide works better when used with products having alpha-hydroxy. This will heal and dry up back acne two times faster.

8. Some people also have natural techniques on how to cure back acne. One home remedy for treating back acne is to use homemade Sodium Hydrixide (Lye) soap while adding some tea tree oil in it. This does not dry and heal acne faster but would definitely give you a softer skin.

9. Exfoliate once a week. If you don’t want to spend money on buying expensive body scrubs, you may use sugar instead to take off all those dead skin cells. Do it on the affected area such as back and buttocks.

10. You may seek professional help in case of very severe back acne. Theirs is nothing to be ashamed about. Dermatologists are willing to help people suffering this kind of skin problem. They would probably recommend medicines that needs prescription, antibiotics that should be taken orally, topical treatments, retinol or even oral contraceptives (for female only).

So there you go. These are only ten of the most effective ways on how to cure back acne.

Acne is a skin condition that almost everyone in the world has had at some point in their lives. Although acne usually strikes hardest during adolescence, most adults still suffer from acne occasionally. There are hundreds of myths surrounding what causes acne and thousands of home remedies for acne and acne medications available without prescription. Although there is no known cure for acne, you can do a good job of riding yourself of acne with three simple steps and tested. First, you need to exfoliate the skin. This can be done through exfoliating creams, acne medications, home remedies, or even a bath with a sponge. Exfoliating the skin removes dirt, dead skin and other impurities that are added by step, blocking the pores of the skin. The second has to take in treating acne is to unclog pores. Many topical acne creams can be used to unclog pores. Most of these products contain retinoids from vitamin A or microbes, such as benzoyl peroxide. These acne products can penetrate the skin and unclog pores inflamed. The reason why pores of the skin must be cleared or released is because acne is essentially the result of a pore that is blocked with sebum (oil) and dead skin. This blockade is complicated by the growth of bacteria that leads to joint inflammation as acne, pimples and blackheads. After peeling of the skin and unclog pores, the last step you need to take to get rid of acne is the application of deep penetration and conditioning lotion formulated to thoroughly cleanse the skin pores and reduce any irritation , dryness or redness that have occurred during the exfoliation process. Depending on the product for acne treatment you are using, this lotion may also contain a cleaning agent present, as benzoyl peroxide to keep clean and medicate the inflamed area. Following these three steps (exfoliation, unblocking and conditioning), your acne problem will be solved. It may not happen immediately, but if this process continues over time, you will see a noticeable improvement in the health and appearance of their skin. Remember there is no known cure for acne. However, that does not mean you can not maintain significantly limit acne in your life. Get rid of acne today!
