You cannot always pinpoint the cause of your acne. There are a variety of causes of this skin condition. Of course, some common causes can be noted.
It can be hereditary in some cases. That is not to say you will necessarily get it if your siblings or parents were afflicted with the condition, but it is certainly possible. You cannot change genetics but you can talk to your physician for advice on how to reduce the risk of being affected by it.
Teenagers often have to face acne for awhile. As children go through puberty, their bodies are exposed to higher levels of hormones. The hormones are often difficult for the skin. Some teenagers suffer from severe pimples while others will only have mild problems (or none at all). Your doctor can help you determine the best treatment for it if you are a teenager or the parent of a teenager who has it.
If you are a woman who is pregnant or who ever becomes pregnant, a breakout might develop. This can happen even if you have never had trouble with them in the past. This is generally caused by the changing hormones in the body. There is usually not much one can do about this type of spots as most medical treatments are not safe during pregnancy. This often goes away after pregnancy.
Not drinking enough water can actually be a cause of acne. Water helps to cleanse your skin and remove toxins from your body. If you are not getting enough water it is easier for toxins to develop and cause problems with your skin.
Foods might not directly cause spots. People used to believe certain foods lead to breakouts. However, they can be caused in part by not having enough intake of vital nutrients. Many nutrients including Vitamin A and Zinc are necessary for healthy skin. If there is not much of these nutrients in your body, the health of your skin can suffer.
Using harsh chemicals to clean your face or in an effort to maintain healthy skin, can actually be counterproductive. If your skin is sensitive to the products you use, it can actually lead to worse problems if it is already present. Try to use products that are intended for sensitive skin and are meant to be safe for skin prone to allergies.
Having too much stress in your life or not handling stress well can certainly cause some problems with spots. Even if you cannot lower the stress in your life, you should work to find healthy outlets for your stress and frustrations. This can help you to avoid or reduce problems with pimples.
There can be medications that are rough on your skin. Some prescription medications can actually cause pimples. If you notice breakouts after starting a new medicine, talk to your doctor to help you determine if the medicine could be the cause.
Other potential risks for acne are also present. By educating yourself on some of the causes of acne, you might be able to reduce the likelihood of being affected by it.
